Every time I sit down to revise my budget, I look for ways to trim my unnecessary costs. That’s why I’m always looking at alternative options for entertainment! There’s something reassuring about being able to curl up, relax, and watch a movie at home. Here are some of my favorite ways to get around paying for movies (legally). Are you ready to watch free movies online? Lights, camera, action!
1. Share passwords with friends
If you’re not already doing this, you are totally missing out. In my group of friends, we share passwords for all the popular subscription services, including Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBOGo.
These services are readily available on any streaming device or laptop, and they each have huge libraries of shows and movies. Sharing is caring, folks. Plus, this strategy can help you shave off hundreds of dollars each year on entertainment.
2. Popcornflix
Being able to watch free movies online has never been simpler. With Popcornflix, you don’t even need an account! Simply search for the movie you want to watch, and press play.
This service is fully legal, and it’s free because it’s supported by ads. This means your movie will have a couple commercial breaks, which is the perfect time for you to go grab more snacks.
Some movies you’ll want to stream from them this weekend: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Last Airbender and School of Rock.
3. Internet Movie Archive
This awesome site is a no-frills database that collects movies, shows, and digital clips that are in the public domain. That means it will have lots of different content than most other sites. It also means you’ll have to get creative with your searches. Or, use resources like this great blog post to help point you in the right direction.
That’s the thing about an archive – to find a hidden treasure, you need to know where to look. My warning to you is not to visit this site late at night. I personally spent over two hours watching classic TV commercials when I should have been sleeping. But hey – it was free!
